Almost There – Just Before My Fyr til Fyr Ultra

I’m just about to fall asleep. Tomorrow I’ll fly to Copenhagen and carry on from there to the island of Bornholm.

Just one night and my next amazing adventure begins, one that I’ve been waiting since last August.

I haven’t been crazy nervous, it comes and goes. I know that I can run that 59km, so that part is okay. The part that makes me nervous is that I am there with almost 500 of others. And I always run alone 🙂 so a different kind of challenge. I’ll take it!IMG_7317

I’ve never been this meticulous with my packing, but I’ve never packed for a Ultra either, so I don’t really have any routine with this. I just hope that I have everything I need.

I’m ready, I feel positive and good. I’m going to run my own race, enjoy everything and have all the PMA while doing it.

While I was packing, I watched my favorite Ultra videos and that really calmed me down and made me stoked even more, if you can put those two together in some way.

Okay, I’m off to bed. Feeling super blessed to have all the love and support I have, so thank you! 🙂IMG_7357

Here’s one of my favorite videos that I just found yesterday, to get in the mood of awesomeness!!

Goals 2015

IMG_5061Yeah, I know it’s been really, really long since my last post.

Not an excuse, but my life has been a bit full of stuff and I just didn’t have the energy to write, even though I knew that it will make me feel a lot better. But I am still here! 🙂

I actually have this huge to do list of post to write on here, but I decided to start from this. It’s been bubbling in my mind since the Copenhagen Half and now that I have started to do things to make this all work, I thought that it’s time!IMG_5042SO.

When I was still in Copenhagen I got the chance to go and run trails, something that I have been dreaming to do since I started running. I knew really early on that there is something in trailrunning that would be my thing. And once I was running with a dear friend in a beautiful forest, I knew. I was in my happyplace. I could breath, I could just be free and enjoy and love. It was like this huge door opened and I knew that I will be okay.

Actually on the day when I knew that I will move to Copenhagen, I signed for my first trail Ultra. So before that happyplace run I already knew that this will be my thing. It’s going to be in Denmark, on an island called Bornholm. It’s called Fyr til Fyr, which means and will be from one lighthouse to another next to the sea, so hey I am in heaven with my love for the sea and seagulls :).IMG_5058Now that I am back home in Finland, I only run or I try to run only in a forest which we have here where I live a lot. It makes me feel so much better with everything I have going in my life. I feel free, calm, in peace, so happy and just challenged. Challenged in a way that I haven’t ever been before. The truth is that I have always been a bit afraid of forests, even though I spent a lot of time in them when I was a kid, but I was never alone and I didn’t have THIS high flying imagination ;).

But I love the challenge of embracing the nature and yourself and your fears. If you have imagination like mine, it will be a challenge. All the cracks and swooshes and this and that and realising that some of the noises come from your clothes. And from having a friend that feeds your imagination (you know who you are 😉 )…

In the beginning of my journey but I know that it will be great!IMG_4980Yesterday, first of October, I started another challenge, called #everyday30days. It’s a challenge started by an amazing runner in Hong Kong and then passed on to second runner in New York, from there to another amazing runner in New York, then to Toronto and to my friend in Singapore. He then asked me that would I be interested to take the torch next and with everything that has been going on I was honored and really happy to challenge myself a bit more :). So if you are interested in this journey, check that hashtag in Instagram.IMG_5038SO AGAIN.

Here’s “Goals2015”.

I have a goal of running three, yes three, trail Ultras next year! Maybe more, as now I found some in Finland that I would love to do too haha! 😀

I started thinking about what to do to be ready physically and mentally for this challenge. I have a routine going “slow and strong” forward and I will tell you more about that soon. But now you all know about my goals, just my little dreams that everyone probably has, don’t they?! 🙂

I have been working so hard for my own happiness for the past two years that I am courageous enough to make this big plans for my future. I know inside of myself that I can do this. I have it in me. Now harder work begins than ever before, but I feel ready!IMG_4947This is my #UNDOORDINARY

Marathon Training week 8

First of all, I love running really long training runs, after 10km I’m ready to go forever, or at least quite long :).

Secondly, training for a marathon and moving to another country is interesting. I got all bummed this morning when I realized that I might not be able to run my 18mile/29km run, because of this. A lot has changed in little over a year… But I am so happy to be who I am at the moment and so happy to take all my future days and adventures and make myself proud even more than I already am!

So last week was good and first time emotionally hard, not because of running, this moving is bringing emotions that I didn’t expect to pop up. Day at a time, with a positive mind, or at least try that positive part hard! 🙂

Week 8

Tuesday – 4miles/6,43km planned, 6,52km done. Super slooooow buddyrun. I love how my dog is super stoked to leave and then after one km he’s all bored and doesn’t want to move anymore, but, when turn back home he’s all fire again haha!20140721-131414-47654356.jpg

Wednesday – 7miles/11,26km planned, moving stuff to do.

Thursday – 4miles/6,43km planned, 8,18km done. For some reason didn’t feel at all interested in going for a run, but I made myself do it and of course it felt amazing! Happy and proud!20140721-131414-47654140.jpg

Friday – Some strength training with Nike NTC app.20140721-131839-47919777.jpg

Saturday – 15miles/24,14km planned, 25km done! Like I said, I love these long runs. They just make me feel so strong and capable of anything! Stoked!20140721-131413-47653931.jpg

Sunday – Little NTC again to stretch my legs and work my core.20140721-131411-47651883.jpg

All in all great week, more of these!

Marathon Training week 6&7

Past weeks have been so full of life changes that my running and training has suffered a bit. I haven’t lacked in motivation but just felt really tired and exhausted. But last sundays first real long run kind of reminded me that running is actually really fun and why I even do it. I also got a proper whooping last night, when I finally got back to my NTC routine. I felt just really weak, and it was great reminder that I can’t just run, I have to do other things to make myself strong too!

Week 6

Tuesday – 3miles/4,82km planned, resting still for this one.

Wednesday – 6miles/9,65km planned, 6,41km done. Great run in the end, before leaving I was all worried about everything, so this was therapeutic one.

Thursday – 3miles/4,82km planned, 5km done. Latenight buddyrun.

Saturday – 9miles/14,48km planned, switched running to quality familytime.

Week 7

Tuesday – 4miles/6,43km planned, 6,50km done. Lazy rainbuddyrun.

Wednesday – 7miles/11,26km planned, this was the day when my life changed. I got the amazing news that I will move to Copenhagen, Denmark and start a new life there, with happier things in my future. Couldn’t run, too many things and pure shock :D.

Thursday – 4miles/6,43km, 6,83km done. Had been eating way too little, so this was not fun.

Friday – 12km done, well needed stress and anxiety out run.

Sunday – 14miles/22,53km planned, 22,50km done. This run was amazing, I was a bit nervous going for it, but when I started running it just felt so good!

I have to get myself more in the game, if I want to really feel strong while running my first marathon in Berlin end of September. I still have time, so let’s do this!
